The New Year has begun and......

What a wonderful year it is going to be!!!

Happy New Year to all.  Masaki had a busy winter break and was here and there with friends and family.  His first term at The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding has been AMAZING!!  He has grown in so many ways that we are grateful for all that have been by his side as he makes this journey.

The Class of 2012-13 built three flat bottomed skiffs:  The Nordland Skiff, the William Atkins "Scandal" and the Monk's small Skiff.  The Nordland Skiff was finished first and was launched in December just before the break.  The William Atkins "Scandal" and the Monk's small Skiff were launched this past Friday, January 9th, 2013.  Masaki's crew built the "Scandal" and Masaki with his crew member Paul Lyter took the skiff on it's maiden voyage.  The following photos are from this adventure.

The dragon was carved by Masaki and after he finished this project, his instructor told him that this piece of art increase the value to the skiff.
