In late May of 2010, Masaki was admitted to Granite Falls High School in Granite Falls, Washington. Masaki was give a battery of placement tests and was accepted into the senior year beginning in September 2010. With the summer ahead of him, he worked with a private tutor to help ease him into the all English environment. Masaki was excited to begin his new life and experiences in America.
